Preliminaries

Preliminary work for watercolours and paintings, small sketches, doodles even, having served their purpose ofen get thrown away after a while. I use them as bookmarks, or for shopping lists, unless the subsequent painting hasn't said it all. In that case their dormant spark may be ignited again at a later date, and they get to be stored in a kind of artistic tinder box.
The small watercolour sketches shown here are memory sketches. Often, after a day out on foot or bike, I'll try to "regurgitate" certan images. Sometimes these compel me to return to the site and perhaps do mork on the spot.
